Arangetrams

Take the first steps on your road to mastery. An Arangetram is the final step of completion in a classical Bharatanatyam graduation. Our Taal Alumni includes Haarika, Bhoomi, Siddhi & Shreen, Anjali & Geatali, Valli, Mansi, Ruhi, Riya, Krishna, Meghana, Rahi. In order to graduate you must understand the steps, the culture, have patience, discipline, and determination.

Riya

Riya, a devoted disciple, commenced her Bharatanatyam training under Guru Smt. Madhavi Mehta at age nine, maintaining her passion for seven years. Trained in Classical Dance and Hindustani Classical Music for five years, she actively participates in South Brunswick High School clubs. Fluent in Hindi, Riya completed a 9-year course through HindiUSA, excelling in Hindi poem competitions. Recently, she became a fellow teacher at Taal, instructing Bharatanatyam during the summer and occasionally offering in-person classes during the school year. Alongside her sister Neha, Riya explores various dance forms, enjoys choreography, and stays updated on Indian cinema for inspiration. Balancing her love for dance and cultural hobbies, Riya aspires to become a doctor, merging her passion for helping others with her commitment to dance.

Mansi

Mansi, a sophomore in high school at 16, is a dedicated dancer who began her journey at age three, exploring various styles under the guidance of her mother, Guru Smt. Madhavi Mehta. Considered a prodigy dancer, Mansi has devoted 12 years to Bharatanatyam, alongside pursuits in hip hop, ballet, pointe, Bollywood, contemporary, and modern dance. Her artistic endeavors also extend to fine art and classical music. While considering a future in nursing in New York City, Mansi values dance as both a hobby and a source of discipline, fostering determination, independence, patience, and strength, and enriching her understanding of her cultural heritage.

Valli

Valli, a junior at Bridgewater-Raritan High School, New Jersey, has been studying Bharatanatyam under Guru Smt. Madhavi Mehta since age 6. Beyond her academic interests in science and literature, Valli is a trained and accomplished singer in Carnatic and Light music. She achieved notable success, including being the NJ State Icon and finalist in the International Indian Icon in 2018, winner in the TANA National Singing Competition in 2019, and Runner-up in the Swararagasudha International Competition in 2020, among other accolades. With nine years of practice, she has imbibed patience, discipline, commitment, and hard work under Smt. Madhavi Mehta's guidance. Valli looks forward to carrying these valuable experiences into her future.
